Brendoncare: a safe place for your loved one

Brendoncare homes, run by the Winchester based charity, Brendoncare Foundation has always prioritised residents’ safety, happiness and well-being. This has never been more important than during the coronavirus pandemic.

All residents and staff within the homes are regularly tested and checked for coronavirus, to ensure everyone’s safety. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is always worn to protect the residents. The amazing and dedicated staff really care about their residents and want to make sure they are safe.

Staff have been keeping the residents busy and mentally stimulated by putting on a variety of activities and events. There have been quizzes, games, musical sessions, poetry recitals, book reading clubs, and much more. During the warmer months, musical entertainers, including Ukulele players and singers visited the gardens for the residents to enjoy and sing along with.

It has been vital that residents have been able to maintain regular communication between themselves and their families and friends. The staff have done everything in their power to ensure this has continued by setting up regular sessions via Zoom, Skype and telephone. There have also been opportunities for garden and window visits too. The residents’ physical and mental well-being is always a priority for the staff.

Brendoncare offers a unique Care for Life promise, which ensures that once a resident moves into a Brendoncare home they will never be asked to leave because of changes in their financial situation.

Care for Life is a charitable ‘top-up’ payment which can support residents whose own funds have been depleted to the current Local Authority Social Services thresholds. At that point, the Local Authority should contribute towards the resident’s care, and Brendoncare’s Care for Life promise will make up any difference. This offers total peace of mint to both residents and their families.

With five care homes in Hampshire, all rated Good by the CQC, the charity offers a wide range of services for older people, from residential, nursing and respite care, to specialist care for those living with dementia. At its newest home, Otterbourne Hill, Brendoncare also welcomes couples affected by dementia, allowing them to continue living together whilst receiving the vital support both partners need.
