New Summer Menu at CAU

Eating Out

New Summer Menu at CAU – a taste of Buenos Aires on your doorstep. Think of great steaks, and it’s Argentina that springs to mind. With an aim to create a restaurant that would sit happily in the heart of Buenos Aires, the founders of CAU wanted to bring that vibrancy and soul of Argentina into pockets of the UK. Katie Thomson headed to CAU for some prime beef and a buzzing atmosphere…

Anyone who has already dined in one of their restaurants will know they are in for fantastic cuts of meat, cooked to perfection, alongside a bevy of sauces and some wonderful sides. New to the menu now though are some tempting summer bites, great for sharing (and even better for scoffing on your own). To start it had to be the sharing platter of tacos giving you a taste of the classic three flavours: blue corn tortilla bases  with lettuce, pico de gallo & smashed avocado then topped with tempura pollock, Chipotle chicken & pickled jalapeño and grilled halloumi, mango & cucumber salsa. Fresh and zingy, it was a great way to get the table involved in swapping bites and stories. We also sneaked in an order of the ham hock and Manchego croquettes – served with smoked garlic aioli and utterly divine – giving that perfect crispy, oozy deliciousness that every croquette promises but doesn’t always deliver.

CAUFor mains we were split – I loved the new Chicken Milanese, a breadcrumbed fried chicken breast topped with a fried egg & pico de gallo and served with chorizo braised puy lentils and my partner opted for the classic Lomito – the finest fillet cut of rump, served with a homemade blue cheese sauce and the bite of delicious sweet potato fries. Both were decadent and delicious – enough to make us leave the diets at the door and scrape the sauce clean off the plate with a crispy chip!

CAUWe’ve also been known to partake in some weekend brunching, and CAU Clifton is the perfect spot, with a set two course menu for £15 and an option to make it bottomless on Saturdays with prosecco for only £10 extra. If there’s anything to push you through the working week, this might just be that motivation.

If you’re looking for a meat lover’s delight in a wonderful atmosphere, you can’t go wrong with CAU.
